CEO-in-Residence Profile

Peter Anjorin

Peter is an engineer and MBA with more than 20 years of experience across manufacturing operations, commercial management, and business strategy. He is seeking to acquire and lead a West Michigan manufacturing company for the long term.

Peter began his career as a manufacturing engineer at DENSO, where he focused on continuous improvement and plant performance. At Whirlpool, he took on broader responsibilities in product strategy and commercial operations. He brought together teams across engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and sales to develop new products and drive growth.

Most recently, Peter headed strategy at SpartanNash. He worked with senior executives on innovation, investment decisions, and the evaluation and execution of multiple acquisitions.

Peter’s career has taken him from the plant floor to cross-functional responsibility and enterprise decision-making. He understands how operations, people, and commercial choices come together to drive results. He is a people-first leader who gives teams clear responsibility and support to perform. That breadth prepares him to run a closely held West Michigan manufacturing business.

Peter was born and raised in Nigeria and immigrated to Michigan to attend Calvin University where he earned a BS in mechanical engineering. He also holds a MBA from Western Michigan University. He lives in Grand Rapids with his wife, Niecia, and their three children, Adela, James, and George.  Outside of work, he enjoys biking and coaching youth sports.

Q&A with Peter Anjorin

Tell us about the kind of business you want to lead.

I am searching to acquire and grow a manufacturing company in West Michigan. More specifically, I am looking for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and sub-component manufacturers with in-house engineering capabilities.

What inspired you to pursue ETA?

West Michigan remains an attractive region for manufacturing across several industries. After spending most of my 20-year career at manufacturing companies in the area, I am excited about the opportunity to preserve and grow our manufacturing base. Sleeping Giant Capital has a strong team with great values, and their long-term approach aligns with my focus on investing in people, championing operational excellence and driving growth and innovation.

What is your leadership style?

My leadership approach always starts with people. People are the foundation of every business. I focus on motivating people and engaging them around a shared vision, then giving them the tools, resources, and opportunity to achieve this vision. We cannot drive operational excellence, and we cannot drive growth and innovation without establishing a strong people-first foundation.

Why did you choose to partner with Sleeping Giant Capital?
They have a strong team with great values that align with my focus on long-term growth and investing in West Michigan.
What makes you uniquely qualified to run the kind of business you want to buy?
I have spent the bulk of my 20-year career in manufacturing contexts, from the plant floor to product development to business strategy. I’ve been through big transitions and enjoy the process of learning new things and collaborating with others to drive results.
What do you admire most about business owners?
The courage to chart their own path and the persistence to stay on this path even when times are tough.
Why do you consider West Michigan a special place to live, work, and raise a family
My wife and I have called West Michigan home for 25 years. It’s a great place to raise a family, our kids love their school and the community we have here. Also, West Michigan offers several attractions you find in much larger cities, but without the stress of living in a big city.
How do you envision your legacy?
I envision my legacy to be one that creates rich opportunities for the people around me. Opportunities that help them learn, develop and grow.

Over the years, I’ve benefited from the opportunities I was given. I was born and raised in Nigeria, and I got the opportunity to come to West Michigan 25 years ago to attend college and was committed to building a life here.
